Natural ice rinks & black ice in Pontresina
Ice skating
Pontresina offers a wide range of ice-skating options. The Roseg Ice Rink attracts visitors with its large natural ice surface, curling rinks, an ice hockey pitch and catering facilities. However, the rare black ice is particularly unique. It forms when temperatures fall below freezing and there is no snow. On these days, guests and local residents alike enjoy skating across the frozen Engadine lakes on freshly sharpened skates.
In Pontresina, a popular spot for this is the Bernina Pass on Lago Bianco.
Alternatively, prepared ice rinks on the Upper Engadine lakes offer a variety of fun ice-skating options. Guests can skate on the Lej da Staz or Lake St. Moritz, among others.
