We cannot turn off our thoughts, but we can become aware that they are there and practice observing them without identifying with them and without judging them. This calms our mind and gives us the opportunity to remain in the moment, right here, right now.
Mindfulness allows us to better cope with stress and pressure - and strengthens our resilience. We learn to manage strong emotions, to embrace them, and to accept them.
Mindfulness practices connect us with our breath, our senses, our body, and the spaces and possibilities in the here and now. We become calmer, more focused, and thus more efficient. More serenity, optimism, and a healthy attitude towards life emerge. We can learn to approach our emotions with curiosity, kindness, and acceptance, to foster healing mental states within us, and to transform unwholesome ones.
A fundamental component of mindfulness training is meditation. Science has long demonstrated that our brain changes through regular meditation and that we can better cope with stress and pressure. As we become more balanced, resilient, and capable, we enhance our well-being, our health, and our quality of life. This has positive effects on our fellow human beings, our private and professional lives.
